This is a long review - because Cris and this cake absolutely deserve it!
I cannot stress how incredible this cake is! I got this cake for my Mam’s 65th birthday/retirement. Open your eyes and ears and listen to me when I say - every single person that day was “wowed” - I'm not over exaggerating.
1) The cake is just as stunning in person as in the photos
2) it tastes DIVINE!
I chose this flavour because my mam used to make a single layer sponge cake with raspberry jam and shredded coconut on top when I was growing up. So when I saw this flavour combo on the website - I thought it was a lovely nod to that cake and those memories. I am going to be very transparent with you - I was very nervous that the coconut would be too strong like a can of coconut cream or too synthetic tasting like liqueur or suncream. If that is also your worry - STOP! ✋ The coconut flavour was PERFECT 👌 The coconut is an all natural flavour and is brilliantly balanced by the sharper, tangy and sweet raspberry layer - making it more of a gentle and creamy coconut flavour. Plus with the addition of the vanilla? It was heaven! It is a truly stunning cake and Cris is a stupidly talented human being! I can’t get over how talented he is.
Everyone on the day was gobsmacked when they saw the cake! All the staff in the venue when I was getting the cake ready to sing happy birthday and all the guests (especially my Mam) when I brought the cake in. Not ONE person could get over how unique, unusual and beautiful the cake was! Everyone was so excited to tuck in and try it. Within 10 minutes 3/4 of the cake was completely gone! As a thank you to the staff for looking after us so well - we left (heavy heartedly) the last quarter of the cake for them to eat. We knew the staff were interested in the cake because they kept commenting about how cool the cake was all evening. The staff told us that they see hundreds of cakes a month served at birthday parties and this was the most beautiful cake they had ever seen ❤️
I truly can’t wait to purchase my next cake from Cris. I have been seriously trying to figure out how I could even bring a cake down to Waterford for future family members brithdays while keeping it cold! 😂 I want everyone to be able to experience and enjoy Cris’ creations! I can’t wait to see Cris and his business keep growing and growing. He deserves nothing less than all the success and recognition! Thank you so much Cris for making my Mam’s day even more incredible and special! She really needed an extra bit of sparkle and wow in her day and you fully were responsible for delivering that! ✨🤗

The cake was fantastic, one of the best chocolate cake's we've ever had in fact, looked incredible but tasted amazing too, almost mousse-like inside, but in a really good way.
